Sharing your Stripe login with employees is a bad idea, and most business owners know it. Your Stripe Dashboard contains your payouts, your balances, your full transaction history, and in many cases your bank account details. Handing that to a seasonal employee so they can run a card at a weekend market is far more access than the job requires.
Unfortunately, the alternative most businesses land on is worse: one shared phone, one shared login, and no idea who charged what. The Enterprise features in the Payment app were built to solve exactly this.
How does it work?
With Enterprise, you invite employees by email. Each person downloads the Payment app, signs in with their own credentials, and can immediately start accepting payments to your Stripe account. Every charge lands in the same place, but each employee's access is limited to charging.
Employees never see your Stripe Dashboard, your API keys, or your financial data. No payouts, no balances, no transaction history. They can take a payment, and that's it.
What happens when someone leaves?
You revoke their access instantly from your dashboard. There is no shared password to rotate, no login to change, and no disruption to the rest of your team. This is one of the most overlooked benefits: with a shared login, one departure means re-onboarding everyone.
How many employees can I add?
As many as you need. There is no per-seat licensing and no user cap, which matters for businesses that staff up seasonally. A venue running 10 stations at a summer event pays the same as a shop with 2 registers.
What hardware does it work with?
Everything the Payment app supports:
- Tap to Pay on iPhone and Android
- Stripe Reader M2
- Stripe Reader S700 and S710
- WisePad 3
- WisePOS E
Each employee can use their own phone with Tap to Pay, or share dedicated readers at fixed stations. All of it processes to one Stripe account.
Who typically uses this?
The pattern shows up anywhere more than one person takes payments:
- Retail stores equipping sales associates without exposing the books
- Events and venues running multiple booths into one account
- Field services where technicians collect payment on-site
- Nonprofits with volunteers accepting donations at events
What does it cost?
The Enterprise plan is $29 per month plus 1% per transaction, with no contracts and no per-seat fees. Registered nonprofits pay $19 per month. In addition, Enterprise includes custom branding, so your logo appears on receipts and the payment experience.
