The Payment app now runs directly on the Stripe Reader S700 and S710. That means a complete point of sale in a single device: a 5.5" touchscreen, a built-in card reader, and the same Payment app experience you know from your phone. No iPhone, iPad or Android device required.
This has been one of our most requested features. Plenty of businesses want a dedicated device at the counter instead of handing over a personal phone, and until now that meant pairing a reader with a separate tablet. The S700 collapses all of that into one piece of hardware.
How does it work?
The setup is about as simple as it gets:
- Order your S700 or S710 from your Stripe Dashboard
- Register the reader to your Stripe account using the code on the device
- The Payment app installs automatically once the reader is registered
- Sign in to your Stripe account on the device and start selling
There is no coding, no configuration files, and no separate app store. Once you sign in, charges flow into your Stripe account in the exact same way they would from the Payment app on your phone.

S700 or S710?
The two readers are nearly identical. The difference is connectivity:
- S700 connects over WiFi. Best for counters, shops and anywhere with a reliable network.
- S710 adds built-in cellular. Best for markets, events, food trucks and anywhere WiFi is questionable.
Both accept chip, contactless and magstripe cards, along with Apple Pay, Google Pay and other digital wallets. Both start at $349, and both process at Stripe's in-person rate of 2.7% + 5ยข.
Do I still need my phone?
No. The S700 and S710 run the app entirely on the device. In some cases, you may still want the phone app alongside it, for example to review charges from the couch or send a receipt after the fact. Everything syncs through your Stripe account, so you can use both interchangeably.
Availability
The S700 and S710 are available in all Stripe Terminal supported countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia and most of Europe.
