Stripe doesn't send you the money from a sale the moment your customer pays. Each payment sits in your Stripe balance as pending for a few days, then becomes available, and Stripe sends that available balance to your bank account as a payout. The timing depends on your country, your industry, how new your account is and other risks.
When will I receive my first Stripe payout?
In most cases, your first payout arrives within 7-14 days of your first successful live payment. It takes longer, as Stripe uses this time to review your business and establish your account. This can be very troublesome if you were counting on those first sales to cover expenses, so plan for the wait.
How long do Stripe payouts take after that?
After that, it comes down to settlement timing, how long a payment stays pending. In the US that's 2 business days for card payments. In some countries, newer accounts start on a slower 7 calendar day timing before moving to the faster schedule. Business days skip weekends and holidays, so a Saturday sale doesn't start counting until Monday.

Bank debits take longer, like 4 business days for a US ACH Debit, and your own bank may take another 2-3 days to post the funds.
What payout schedules does Stripe offer?
Where supported, payouts default to daily. You can also choose specific days of the week, specific dates each month, or manual payouts (Japan doesn't offer daily). Your schedule only controls when payouts are sent, not how long payments stay pending. If your bank charges a fee for incoming transfers, fewer, larger payouts may be beneficial.
With manual payouts, your balance grows until you decide to transfer it, so think of Stripe as another checking account. Manual payouts typically take 1-4 business days to arrive.
Does Stripe pay out on weekends and holidays?
Standard payouts don't. A payout scheduled on a weekend or holiday arrives the next business day. Instant Payouts are the exception.
How do Instant Payouts work, and what do they cost?
Instant Payouts can be sent any day or time, including nights, weekends and holidays, and typically arrive within 30 minutes. They're available in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and most of Europe, among others. New accounts aren't immediately eligible, so you will need to check your eligibility.
- The fee is 1.5% in the US, Australia, New Zealand and the UAE, and 1% in Canada, the UK, the EU and Singapore
- Funds go to an eligible debit card or, with some banks, a bank account. Credit cards aren't on the list.
- US payouts run $0.50 to $9,999 each, up to 10 a day, under a daily limit shown in your Dashboard
Why did my Stripe payout fail?
Your bank couldn't accept it. Typically the account was closed or the details were entered incorrectly. You'll likely receive an email from Stripe asking you to update your bank account. In most cases the funds return to your Stripe balance, however it can take up to 5 business days.
Is there a minimum payout amount?
Yes, but it's small, typically one unit of your local currency, like $0.01 in the US or £1 in the UK.
Why is Stripe holding my funds in reserve?
In some circumstances, Stripe may hold part of your balance "in reserve" to cover refunds and disputes. This may be due to an industry with long delivery windows, elevated dispute activity, or a sharp, unexplained jump in volume. Stripe emails you the terms, including how much is held and for how long, and reviews it again before it expires. If you believe a reserve was applied in error, look for an appeal option on your Dashboard's Balances page, or contact Stripe Support.
Why does my payout date keep moving?
This is most likely an account verification requirement that still needs to be completed. Check your Dashboard and email for what Stripe requested. More information can be found here: Blog: Stripe Account Verification
Can I see my payouts in the Payment app?
